WHAT IS HEIRLOOM PHOTOGRAPHY?

Heirloom portraiture is a classical style of children's photography that is designed as a forever piece of art. A beautiful and timeless heirloom piece is thoughtfully designed at each step to ensure the final piece of art is treasured for generations. The first step to creating a successful heirloom portrait is the clothing. Simple, elegant and timeless styles should always be used in heirloom photography. Classic Peter Pan collars, cap sleeves, and heirloom embroidery are excellent choices for Pastel portrait paintings. Those same styles may be used for Charcoal portraits, or bare shoulders also yield themselves to a clean and minimalist aesthetic.  The next step is the actual image capture. We choose our lighting carefully and always chosen for our little subject. Using classical lighting techniques, we create light that softly falls across the face of your little one, highlighting their perfect lips, and bright eyes, while also contouring and creating depth around their cheeks and little button noses. This type of lighting brings out every detail, making it feel almost as if you can reach into their portrait and touch them. Lastly, each portrait is created with the highest quality of heirloom and museum grade materials. Preserved on 100% cotton paper, each portrait is hand ripped and floated against museum grade cotton matting and sealed with calcium carbonate buffered paper, which allows the art piece to breathe. Finished off with a Certificate of Authenticity, care instructions, and signed by the artist, your child's heirloom portrait can be treasured for generations. 

WHAT STYLES OF HEIRLOOM PORTRAITS ARE AVAILABLE?

We offer a full line of heirloom portrait products. Our most popular heirlooms are the Impression, which is a single subject head and shoulders capture, and the Portrait Study which is a five image composite portrait (pictured below). The Impression is available as a pastel portrait painting or a black and white charcoal portrait. The Portrait Study is available in color, or most traditionally black and white.
