I absolutely love this charcoal portrait painting of this handsome young man. The simplicity and almost minimalist style of these black and white heirloom portraits are intriguing. It's impossible not to get lost in the subject's eyes. Charcoals are one of our most popular heirloom portraits for the tween and teen ages too. I am especially drawn to the "in-between ages", and the tween years. I love how at this age, children are perfectly balanced between little kid and teenager. It's a bittersweet milestone, as those little kid faces are fading and you can see glimpses of the grownups they will become. But they're not there yet! And even though they look so big right now, in just a few years we will look back and see that they were in fact, still just little kids. A beautiful, and poignant milestone to capture with a classic portrait like a charcoal.
