Capturing the innocence of babyhood is a privilege that I hold dear in my photography journey. Recently in my Raleigh area studio, I worked with a very special family for the second time to create an heirloom portrait of their son in celebration of his first birthday milestone. His mom and dad included the most charming vintage bonnet for some of his portrait, which was so timeless and classic. 

This little one was a doll; he was a little shy and reserved at first, but before long he was giving the sweetest little smiles and candid expressions. As he warmed up he continued to show off his personality, from playful giggles to curious little gazes. The vintage bonnet lent a touch of old-world charm and really leveled up the cuteness of his session. The Portrait Study is a classic childhood composite portrait of five black and white studio images. My goal is to create a series of images that once composited together, blend perfectly to tell the story of him - from his sweet mischievous smiles to thoughtful glances. 

Where trends come and go, heirloom portrait art stands as a testament to the enduring power of simplicity. As an heirloom photographer, it's a privilege to create such timeless pieces that will be cherished for years to come. Happy Birthday, sweet boy!
